When I talk about a creative life, I am also talking about my homeschooling life. I truly can’t separate these two in my mind. A lot of people have preconceived notions of what a homeschooler’s day looks like, but most of those ideas are pretty far from the truth.
My day can be flexible. I’ve already given you a peek into my day, but in that post, I was especially highlighting how I make my artistic practice part of my day. What might get missed is that I am the constructor of my schedule rather than having outside obligations define when and where I need to be. I am free to make creativity a part of our days, both for myself and my kids. This flexibility that homeschooling brings to life is incalculable.
I hear from people I know that when they retire their entire day is full with activity and they truly don’t understand how they were worried that they wouldn’t have enough to do in their day when they retired. The truth is we fill our days with what we want to do or have to do, but fill it we will.
Later this month I’ll be delving into how I homeschool and how that also nourishes a creative life.
