This month has been lovely. I always think fall is my favorite season, and it is! But then spring rolls around and I wonder if my allegiance is changing. After winter’s drabness, spring’s colors are a delightful change. And I love so many spring flowers. I always want to sketch more in spring and capture all of the changing colors and flowers.
General Life
To celebrate for this month:
It’s spring! That’s plenty to celebrate right there. We did celebrate with some family members for a birthday this month. We had some family come and visit that we haven’t seen in years. We had our mid-term break this month too and that is always refreshing.
Something to let go of:
Our co-op ended this month which means it will be twice as difficult to find friends and hang out with them. At least until summer vacation.
Homeschooling
We took our mid-term break this month, which means we are on the home-stretch for the school year wrapping up! I have our evaluations already scheduled and I’m looking forward the end of the year.
We are also participating in a mini-session of track at the local Christian school next month. It will be a new pool of people for us to make friends with and it finishes out the kids’ PE requirements for the year.
Gardening
My tulips are up and almost done. This was a mixed bag of colors and I’m mostly okay with the mix that came up. There is time for me to add more this fall and balance any color issues I’m having. I’m also planting daffodils in the fall in my back yard so I can see them from my kitchen sink next spring.
I bought all the seeds for annual flowers and I’m looking forward to getting them in the ground next month. Cosmos, zinnia, and morning glories, just to name a few.
Cooking and Canning
I offically started some canning this month. I made Dandelion jelly (with little kids picking all the dandelions) and I canned up some pineapple after buying it in bulk. Home-canned tastes so much better than store-bought.
Reading
I opted not to read along with Close Reads series on The Hobbit this month. Mostly because I’ve read it many times and needed some space for my own reading. And boy how I read! I read You Are a Theologian by Jen Wilken & J.T. English. I read I Cheerfully Refuse by Leif Enger. I did read the Close Reads mystery book of the month, The Franchise Affair by Josephine Tey and that was delightful.
Art
I continue to participate in the #100dayproject by taking sky pictures everyday. I hit the halfway point on that this month and that is super exciting. You can go back to my archives and see the past weekly posts (called Sunday Skies).
I particpated in a free class given my Laly Mille called Flower Flow. Basically it is a long commercial to purchase her bigger fuller class, but the free sessions were fun and playful and I enjoyed them very much.
Wrap-Up
I’m looking forward to next month and finishing up school, planting flowers, and reading many more books. What are you looking forward to?
