This year my Word or Theme of the year is Established
Here is the art page I made in response to my ponderings of this word:
As I look back over the last few years, the words I’ve chosen clearly speak to me about the place I have been emotionally and reflect the desires of where I want to grow. This year is no different. As I have settled in this new place I can truly say I begin to feel my roots spreading. I wish to be even more established in my new community, church, and home.
For my word, I usually like to take a scripture that defines how I want to think about this word throughout the year:
I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ,
Ephesians 3: 16-18 (emphasis mine)
Defining this term in the online dictionary:
Established-
having been in existence for a long time and therefore recognized and generally accepted.
(of a plant) having taken root; growing well.
As I did my usual Bible word study for this particular word I saw that the transliteration of the Greek word used in this scripture is ‘themelioō’, which has been translated as ‘grounded’ as well as ‘established’, depending on which translation of the Bible you are using.
The other verses that use this word all imply the grounding needed to stand firm in the scriptures, to not be easily knocked about by heresies or opinions. To be well established implies a firmness of principle and belief. Let it be so Lord!
Of course, I am also seeing this word as an establishing of our family in this new state, home, church, and homeschool community. I enjoy the roots we have put down and am looking forward to being even more established as time goes on.
